GPS...Recalculating

You know what really Grinds My Gears? GPS. First of all, have we really gotten to be that dependent on technology that we can't look up and read a street sign anymore. We have to have the directions read to us out loud by an angry lady with a heavy Australian accent who coincidently half the time has no idea where we are, or where we are going. On the way home from Springfield this weekend I had the words "recalculating" and "GPS Signal Lost" seered into my mind for three hours straight. It makes me nervous basing the direction I travel off a machine which relies on a satellite hovering miles above the Earth that can't even get a signal half the time. If we rely so heavily on the GPS for directions and then all the sudden it loses signal, where exactly are we suppose to go? Guess we have to pull over and play on our iPhone until the Australian lady decides she is ready to play tour guide again. How do you feel about GPS's in the car? Has yours ever steered you wrong?

  1. I think it honestly depends on how old your GPS is and what brand you have. I don't have a GPS, but I use my brother's Garmin all the time and I've never been steered wrong. On the other hand, I've used other friend's Tom-Tom's and I've gotten lost using their dumb GPS. Maybe it was because theirs was older, but I honestly think it's the brand that makes all the difference.
