You know what really Grinds My Gears? The Facebook Button on Phones. Our society needs everything we want at the exact moment we want it. That's a known fact. Instant Gratification. We are so conditioned to it that we hardly even notice it anymore unless our internet is running slow. It gets worse and worse with each generation because of the technology that is being bettered daily to make it easier to get the information and tangible items we want as soon as we want them. As if it wasn't already bad enough here comes the HTC Phone storming in with nothing other than a "Facebook Button" on the bottom of their new phone. Now we not only see the little blue symbol on our computer screens, television sets, billboards, posters, movies, and just about any other form of media one could think of, but now it is right there glowing in our faces every time we look at our phone. Every time a HTC user does something on there phone they deem "Facebook Worthy" they have the option to upload it instantly with the touch of a button for the whole world to see. No more filter, no more think time. What do you think the repercussions of adding instant technology like this to items that our world already revolves around will be? Is it overkill or is this the direction we have been going for a long time and our momentum is just going to keep on carrying us?

I think this is a very interesting concept, instant gratification. We have definitely been conditioned with high speed interned and dual core processors to want things instantaneously. Whatever happened to "good things come to those who wait?" I also find it interesting that Facebook is everything. Facebook has become the cornerstone of the world around us. If it were to disappear over night, what kind of withdrawals would society go through? I believe we have become so accustom to high speed internet relations that we have lost touch of the reality of what a true relationship looks like. The Facebook Button on smart phones is going to take this epidemic and launch us further into our lustful desire for instant gratification.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Brent on this one. What would happen if Facebook were to disappear? I honestly don't know if our society would know how to function or hold a conversation without chatting on facebook. It's a bit ridiculous.
